Mani To-Go

Nails break & chip at the most inconvenient times! Keep an Mani To-Go kit handy for on the go nail repairs & touch ups.

Nail clippers: bring along a small pair of nail clippers for chips that are too deep to be filed down

Polish remover: use a travel container to carry polish remover without lugging around the whole bottle, or purchase a polish remover pen at your local drugstore for small touchups

Cotton balls: if you plan on repainting your nails while out you might want to include some cotton balls

Cuticle clippers: if you have a hangnail or just loose skin around the nails these can make for easy and painless removal

Nail file: when you chip a nail they don't always chip smoothly, use a file to smooth the rough edge so it's not bothering or hurting you for the rest of the day

Clear polish: if you feel like your nails could use a little shine while you're out a quick coat of clear polish can make you look more put together

Color polish: you can also bring the polish that's already on your nails in case you need a touch up

Stick to Gloss

You have this amazing shade of lipstick but you're more of gloss person. Don't go out and buy a new shade of lipgloss, make your own using the lipstick!

You will need:
Lipstick
Vaseline/Petroleum Jelly
Glitter (optional)
Microwave
Toothpick (or something to stir with)
Container for gloss

1) Start by mashing the lipstick with the jelly in a small bowl until desired color is acquired
2) Put mixture in the microwave for 5 seconds, repeat this until mix is a smooth liquidy texture
3) Let the gloss cool and pour the remains into a container of your choice

Enjoy your new lipgloss!

Tip: if you're adding glitter add a small amount in before you put it in the container

Unstuck Polish Lid

Crap... the lid of your nail polish is stuck and no force on earth is strong enough to pry it free! Well don't waste your time banging it against the counter, or mangling with a pair of pliers, there is a much easier way to unstick that lid.

1) Get a cup of hot water and submerge your polish in it being sure that the water reaches the base of the lid where it's stuck and leave the bottle for 5 minutes
2) Remove the bottle and twist the cap open, it might be a little tough but it should give
3) Make sure you take a cotton swab with acetone and clean off the mouth of the bottle to avoid having your lid stuck again!

Glitter Glitter Everywhere

Glitter everything and anything with just a few simple steps!

1) Buy yourself some mod podge (just about any type will do)
2) Get some glitter of your choice (you can experiment with different combinations of colors)
3) Mix the two together evenly in a small dish until you have a glitter glue mixture
4) Using a brush (foam brush works best) spread the mixture evenly across the surface of what you are glittering, if you have mixed the two enough you will only need one coat (you may have to fill in some bald spots however)
5) Allow the object to dry overnight!

Now go glitter everything to death!

Tip: to allow the glitter to stick better spray the object with clear spray shellac

Make A Bomb

Bath bombs are fun & not to mention relaxing, but they can range anywhere from 10$-30$! Too expensive to use all the time. Why not make your own to use every time you take a bath!

1) Mix 2 cups of baking soda & 1 cup of citric acid in a large bowl
2) Add 3 teaspoons of your favorite essential oil
3) Take a spray bottle of water & spray the mixture, being sure not to add too much water or your mixture will start fizzing! Spray until the mixture is slightly damp & malleable
4) Using a spherical mold, such as a plastic ornament balls like these, a fill each side with the mixture
5) Push the two halves together to create a ball & carefully remove your bath bomb

Now you can store your bath bombs in tinfoil or tissue paper & save them until you need a relaxing fizzy bath! Just drop one in a full tub & let the fizz relax you!

Tip: you can add a drop of food coloring to add a little color to your ball, but be careful not to add to much or you'll end up staining yourself!

Toothpaste Tabs Just Add Water

Sometimes you really just need to brush your teeth! Maybe you're on a date, or you're camping, or you really just hate that unbrushed feeling. Well we can't all just carry a tube of toothpaste around in our purse. Toothpaste tabs are the perfect way to get your fix of fresh breath!

1) Squeeze out dime-sized dabs of toothpaste onto a sheet of wax paper or non stick surface. Allow the dots to dry to a hardened state. This can take 2-4 days.
2) Sprinkle a light coat of baking soda on the dots to keep from sticking and to add extra whitening.
3) Store the dots in a small bag or container along with a toothbrush.

To use the dots, place one in your mouth and chew it a little. Wet your toothbrush and begin brushing your teeth!

Purse Essentials

There are essentials that every girl should keep in her purse just because and in case of an emergency!

Chapstick: It's an essential to keep your lips moist and you never know when you might be outside for a long period of time in the heat or the cold. Cracked lips are no fun!
Bobby Pins: Always keep a couple pins in your purse just in case your hair decides to act out of character (it wouldn't hurt to carry a few hair ties as well).
Cover Up: Sometimes our makeup isn't always reliable and blemishes start to show through. It doesn't hurt to carry a little cover up.
Compact Brush: These things are a life saver! They have a brush to help style and smooth your hair and a mirror so you can apply any touch ups or just make sure you're looking your best.
Eyeliner: Keep an extra eyeliner in your purse for touchups.
Hairspray: Hair is an important aspect of any girls style, so keep a travel hairspray in case it starts to become unruly.
Lipgloss: It can't hurt to add a little sparkle!
Wallet: Keep your ID, money, credit cards, membership cards, school ID or anything you need in this!
Phone: Because we all know our cell phone is attached to our hip anyway!

Lemon Salt Scrub DIY

Salt scrub is expensive, so what if you could make your own using just 3 things?

1) You're going to need a container such as a mason jar or any container with a resealable lid.
2) Start with one cup of any type of baby oil. This will be the base of your scrub.
3) Add 1 1/2 cups of epsom salt to the baby oil. If the solution seems too runny, add another 1/4 cup of salt.
4) Finish the scrub off by adding a little lemon juice. Just simple squeeze the lemon into the mixture, being sure to avoid adding seeds. If desired, you can add a little lemon zest for a dash more of lemon!

Make sure you stir the scrub and then you can use it or save it for a later time. Enjoy your new salt scrub!

Ouch sunburn is no fun! Treating it is even worse! Aloe gel is sticky and trying to cool down the skin can be a hot mess. Well we have found a way to combine the two to avoid that goopy aloe feeling as well as the gross mess!

1) Start by filling a regular ice cube tray with aloe vera gel.
2) Place the tray in the freezer and leave it in there for at least 8 hours.
3) Whenever you have a sunburn pop one of the aloe vera cubes out and the soothing aloe and the cold combination will make for an immediate relief!

Pore Strips at Home

Pore strips can be expensive and sometimes they don't even seem effective! Well you can make your own pore strips with just a couple things found around your house AND you'll see and feel results!

1) Start off by mixing 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin (colored gelatin can leave your face looking green or red depending on the flavor) and 1 1/2 tablespoons of milk and stir until you get a chunky consistency (if the mixture appears too chunky add another 1/2 tablespoon of milk).
2) Microwave the concoction for 15 seconds (any hotter and you'll burn your face!).
3) Remove the mixture from the microwave and immediately begin applying the strips with your tool of choice (ie. popsicle stick, cotton swab, finger). The strips dry fast so be sure to apply them quickly!
4) Let the strips sit for 15-20 minutes. You will know when they are dry and then you can begin to peel them off your face!

For the best results, be sure to wash your face before applying the strips and after removing them. Now your face is smooth and your pores are clear of dirt and toxins!
